There are several homeopathic remedies available to combat flu effectively. At the very first sign that flu is developing, take 1/2 tube of Anas barbariae (marketed under various brand names, including Oscillococcinum) every two hours, for a total of five doses. Combination flu remedies work in majority of cases if you take one in the first 4 to 12 hours after you start having symptoms. Follow the dosage recommendations on the label of the remedy you choose. If it’s going to work, relief should be felt with a single dose. If the flu persists, a more specific remedy, such as a 12C or 30C dose of Eupatorium perfoliatum, which is good for a flu that causes aches and chills, fatigue. Give up to four doses of one of these flu remedies in 24 hours. Below listed are several specific homeopathic remedies that are useful for flu. If feeling chilly, restless, and weak, choose Arsenicum album. Give one dose of Arsenicum album 30Xx or 9C, as directed on the product label, three to four times a day for up to eight doses. Specific Remedies Aconitum napellus: This remedy is useful for a flu that comes on suddenly and intensely accompanied by fever, anxiety, constricted pupils, and strong thirst, alternate with chills. Various members of the British Royal Family, are known to use it. It is recognised by Act of Parliament and is available on prescription under the National Health Service.
It has been found, that homoeopathy is as effective for animals as for humans. Classical homoeopathic medicines, are widely recognised as a safe and effective alternative, to conventional medicines. They are in general use throughout the world. Prepared to impeccable modern standards of quality from pure, natural sources. Completely safe.
Derived from the Greek word Homoios, meaning 'like', Pathos, meaning 'disease', homoeopathy is the medical practice of treating 'like with like'. This means, treating an illness with a substance that produces the same symptoms as those displayed by the person who is ill. Homoeopathy is essentially a natural healing process, providing remedies to assist the patient to regain health by stimulating the body's natural forces of recovery. The emphasis is on treating the patient, rather than the disease. One of the principles of homoeopathy is that people vary in their response to an illness, according to their basic temperament.
An Homoeopath tries to determine the patient's temperament and responses and prescribes on a more individual basis. Patients suffering from the same disease often require different remedies. On the other hand, another group of patients, with different diseases, may all benefit from the same remedy.
The principle of homoeopathy has been known since the time of Hippocrates, the Greek founder of medicine, around 450 B.C. Over a thousand years later the Swiss alchemist Paracelsus employed the same system of healing based upon the principle that 'like cures like'. It was not until the late 18th Century that homoeopathy as it is practised today evolved. The great German physician, scholar and chemist, Samuel Hahnemann, was chiefly responsible. Appalled by the existing medical practices, he set about using the homoeopathic principle to develop an alternative which was safe, gentle and effective.
Remedies are available in a number of potencies but, generally 6C potency, is recommended for the home treatment of pets. Many practitioners especially those on the continent rely mostly on lower potencies for general use.
Homoeopathic remedies can be bought in Tablet, Pill form. I usually use Tablets if applying orally. If used in water, then I have found that Pills are best, as they dissolve readily in water, and do not leave a scum line.
The ideal method of adminstration is to empty the remedy directly on the tongue, when the animal is not feeding. For this purpose tablets can be crushed to a powder. If the animal resist, the remedy can be concealed in a small piece of meat, or added to their drinking water.
Euphrasia
Frequency of dosing is set according to the severity, of the problem.
Sudden acute conditions - one dose every half hour, until symptoms subside - potency 6c.
Less acute conditions - 1 per day, or 1 morning and night for a few days.
Chronic conditions - sporadic dosing, 1 per week - potency tends to be 30c.
If giving more than one remedy, give different potencies, at intervals.
For best results, do not handle the tablets directly, use the container cap as a dispenser, or crush the tablets between 2 spoons.
Remedies should be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct light. Homoeopathic remedies are delicate and rely on subtle influences upon the body. Strong smelling substances, may overthrow their effect, so essential Oils shoul not as a general rule be used at the same time, as homoeopathic dosing. Stored correctly, remedies will keep their potency for many years.
There are also topical herbal preparations to consider using. For eczema Chamomile, Calendula, and Chickweed Ointments, can be bought in Boots the Chemist, Homoeopathic Chemists, Health Shops, Sainsburys etc. Just a matter of finding who stocks what.
